Privacy Policy

Simply Speaking SLT takes utmost care to ensure your family's privacy is protected as required by law.  You can read the principles and exceptions of the Privacy Act here.

Collection of Personal Information
Simply Speaking SLT collects personal information about you and your child.  We will:

  • Collect personal information in order to register you as a client (e.g.: name, postal address, email address and telephone number) and to plan appropriate services for your child (e.g., name, gender, date of birth, attending school, medical, developmental and educational history).

  • Collect only the information we need.

  • Use the information we have collected for administrative, customer service and assessment & intervention planning purposes only.

  • Only collect information directly from you. 

  • Not collect information about you by unlawful means or means that are unfair or intrude unreasonably on your personal affairs.

  • Never sell, trade, rent or share any information about you or your child in any form without your express permission.

  • Not hold any personal information about you or your child any longer than needed.
    

Storage of Personal information
Simply Speaking SLT takes reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal information.  We will:

  • Store your personal information in electronic version on our main computer or in hard copy version in a locked and secure location.

  • Ensure our main computer and any other electronic devices on which your personal information is stored have supported operating systems and are appropriately fire-walled and strong-password protected.

Access to your Information
You are entitled to know what information is held about you or your child and to have access to this information.  If you have any concerns or questions about this information  or about the security of this information, please contact us on 027 365 7958.  Requests for access to the information we have collected about you or your child must be made in writing to: simpyspeakingslt@gmail.com. Simply Speaking SLT then has 30 days to fulfil your request. You are also entitled to request correction of your information and to request that, if the information is not corrected, a statement is attached to the original information saying what correction was sought but not made.

Breaches of Privacy
If you believe your privacy has been breached, please contact us by phone (027 365 7958) or in writing (simplyspeakingslt@gmail.com).  If a breach of privacy has indeed occurred, we will ensure that the breach is rectified as soon as possible.  If for some reason you are not satisfied with our response, or you want to make a formal complaint, please contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
